How do I get to the MIT Careers Office?
Walking from the Kendall Square T stop:
Exit the "T" at the Main Street exit (you will see the COOP and a Marriott Hotel
when you get to street level). Head down Main Street past the COOP and Legal
Seafood Restaurant (this is a right if you took the T from the direction of
downtown Boston, and a left if you took it from Cambridge or Somerville). At the
first set of lights, take a left on to Ames Street. Follow Ames Street until you
get to the building on your right that looks like a pie wedge (the Landau Building) and a cross walk. Enter the Landau Building and walk straight down the hall. At the end of the hall you will come to a breezeway, continue to walk straight through the breezeway and to the end of the next hallway (you will see signs for Building 16, 56, and 66 as you pass through). At the very end of the hall, you will see a set of glass doors in front of you and stairs to your left. Go up the stairs one flight and enter the doorway on your left into Building 8. Go through the hall until it intersects with a larger hallway. Take a right down this hallway (also known as the Infinite Corridor). Walk down this hallway until you come to the next intersection of hallways. At this intersection, take a right (you will see the Building 4 Coffee Shop on the corner). Take a right at the next corner, then a left. Room 12-170 will be the 2nd door on the left.
Directions to building 12 room 170 (MIT Careers Office) from Massachusetts Ave:
Walk into the main building (you can't miss it as it has huge pillars in the front and has Massachusetts Institute of Technology carved on the top). Go through the main entrance lobby to the Infinite Corridor, straight ahead through building 3, and building 10 (they are all connected). You will then get to building 4 (at the last 4-way intersection on the Infinite Corridor before the exit door). Once you reach the intersection at Building 4, make a left (there is a Coffee Shop on the left side). Walk to the end and make a right, then a left. Room 12-170 will be the 2nd door on the left.
Where do I park at MIT?
Parking Suggestions
Parking in Cambridge and Boston is quite difficult due to limited space. Visitors who drive to
MIT should note that MIT has no visitor parking available. It's recommended that you park your
car at the hotel at which you are staying, and use public transportation to get to the MIT
campus. If you must drive to the campus, there are both on- and off-street parking spots
available, but most public parking is not very close to the center of the MIT campus (unless you
arrive very early in the morning or late in the evening).
Street Parking
There is metered parking on Vassar Street and Memorial Drive (which runs along the river, is a
bit further south, and is not shown on the map), but they fill up early (most of the spaces fill
up by 8am). In order to find a spot near the main buildings you will need to arrive close to
7am. Main Street and Mass Ave (in front of MIT) have one- and two-hour parking meters. Parking
along Main Street or Massachusetts Avenue will mean regular trips to pay the parking meter.
Albany Street and Portland Street have free and two-hour parking. During the workday, Memorial
Drive, Albany, Portland, and Main Streets are probably your best bets. After the workday, finding
a parking spot isn't nearly as hard and night and weekend parking near campus is generally not
difficult to locate.
Public Parking Facilities
There are a number of lots at which you may park for a fee. The Campus Police Parking and Traffic
Division has compiled this list of public parking facilities for your use. Please note that all
information is subject to change and should not be considered final.
